In this, my first installment of learn more, run more, drink more, I present to you Dr. Konstantin Frank’s 2008 Riesling. I actually went to the liquor store today, three year old in tow, in search of a birthday gift for my Mother-in-law. As I had just published my post about my goals for 2010 to include learn to like wine, I thought I should pick some up for myself.
Lake Street Wine & Spirits in Penn Yan happened to be offering Dr. Frank tastings (actually, it was Ms Eisenhart from Dr. Frank’s). I tried the Riesling, told her it was “drinkable”, and bought a bottle at a 10% discount. I also purchased something from Bully Hill (which I hear people around here can’t stand?) because it had a pineapple on the front. For my Mother-in-law, I chose Redneck White from Torrey Ridge Winery.
Back to the Riesling… I’m trying to like it. To be honest though, the more I drink of it, the more like nail polish remover it tastes. Why can’t wine just taste like regular grapes, and not sour grapes?
Ok, I am still learning.
