des/dev/moms - where are you?
It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged anything, but before I start my day of work, I think I need to get this down on tumblr. Where the heck are all the moms out there? The web designer or designer/developer moms? The ones earning income AND raising their kids?  We know there aren’t many women in this field (about 16.2% are female http://aneventapart.com/alasurvey2008/#gen)....

Interactive Something-er-other at NYS Fair
Ok, here’s the thing.  I (my company) has the opportunity to occupy a booth in the Center of Progress building at the New York State Fair this September for one day. That’s 12 hours - 10am to 10pm. The booth is supposed to be interactive.  What to do? I need your input. You work in the web (or design) industry. We’re talking interactive and progress here. What would you do?...

Stop Using Your Inbox As Your ToDo List
Simple as that.  Since people asked how I keep my inbox so shiny and clean, there is my answer.

Im getting over twitter →
Reblogged from David Perel: I never thought I would say this but recently I have been very over twitter. I’ve been thinking a similar thing too. For me, a few things on the social media spectrum have changed since the initial twitter surge. 1) Facebook.  I never used to ‘friend’ people that I truly didn’t know or had no intention of meeting in person. It was...

Mobile App Inspiration Set on Flickr →
I’ve started an App Inspiration Set on Flickr. Most of the current shots are straight from Dribbble. At first I wasn’t sure whether people would be cool with that, but since dribbble is open now, I think it’s ok. I’ve given credit where it’s due by including the dribbbler’s name in the shot. If there is no name included, it’s because it’s a screen...

What If
Many of my best ideas start with, “What if…”. Two and a half year ago, the question, “What if someone wanted to pay me to build them a website?” led me to become a web designer and entrepreneur. There are so many What Ifs in life. Some are looking back, and can be counter-productive. But the What Ifs that look to the future, that look ahead even without seeing a clear...

Weirdness in Expression Engine.
The text should say something like, “xx posts in xx categories have generated xx comments.”  Including the post you’re reading, the weblog called blog (I know, right) has 5 posts, 6 categories, and 22 comments (mind you, this is all in experimental phase right now).  My solution spits out 5 posts, 6 categories, and 5 comments. Westley’s solution spits out 3 posts, 6...

A Small HelveRantEtica
Helvetica. It’s a lovely, versatile typeface. Gorgeous even. One of the best typefaces we have available on the web. But STOP! Stop talking about some love affair you have with a typeface. It’s so old now. It’s not that using it is old, but talking about it, tweeting about it, posting about it, renaming things after it - HelvetiCSS and Sketchetica - just stop with the typographic...

Update on 2010 goals
It’s the end of the first week of twenty ten, and the inter-webs are drowning in posts regarding resolutions and goals. Here’s mine. I claimed my 2010 goals several weeks ago (here and here), and I feel as if it’s time for an update. Incase you’re too lazy you need a reminder, here’s my goals: learn more, run more, drink more (wine), drink more (tea from ancestral...

From WP to EE
Disclaimer: I have nothing against WP, WP themers, WP users, WP fanatics, or WP evangelists. You’re all doing a great job. I’m just bored with it. After playing around with Expression Engine yesterday, I think it’s time for me to graduate from Wordpress to EE. Why the switch? The first thing I noticed about EE is the number of built in functionality that, in WP, would require...

Discus comments success!
This is a test - tumbling from my iPhone. Also, I’ve installed discus comments and successfully (well, I think) integrated them with the micropress theme from Obox.

3 goals for 2010
I have more than three goals, but specifically, I’m going to crush it in the following areas in 2010: 1. I’m going to learn Expression Engine, and use it. I installed it today locally, and played around a little bit. It seems to be way (like, WAY) more robust than wordpress on just a basic install. I’m looking to save time in the development of clients sites so that I can focus...

Blueberry iMac & A 6 Year Old Website
This is kind of boring, just to warn you ahead of time. The point of me video blogging at this point is just to go outside my comfort level and do something new. Posted via web from Meredith’s Non-Blog | Comment »

Idea!
Not sure how, but I thought of a fun game that involves twitter and skype turn on skype tweet your skype contact info let people call you randomly, without telling you that they are calling you. then you guess who the hell they are seriously though, i tweet with people frequently (ok, addictively) yet i wouldn’t know their face or their voice from Tom, Dick, or Jane.

Teachable Moment
I strong armed my big sister into joining twitter today. She is @alisonpetsky and you should follower her. Originally though, she signed up with a twitter username that made no sense. It didn’t represent her at all, from a branding or personal perspective. After some convincing, she changed it to @alisonpetsky which pleased me greatly. Pushing older siblings around can be rewarding. Then I...
